Confirmed at the beginning of September of 2022, Wolfspeed is coming to Chatham County. Chatham County’s Siler City will be home to the new plant and will create at least 1,800 jobs. In fact, the first phase of the mega site will be large enough to fit the Superdome in New Orleans as well as the Sears Tower in Chicago and still have room leftover. The plant will focus on producing silicon carbide materials which ultimately end up in semiconductor chips.

Chatham County Land sales started 2019 with a bang. Maryland based, The Halle Companies, paid $4.4 million for a little more than 200 acres of land close to Chatham Park.
